Ek thi Mariam (Flying Officer)

This blog is for Mariam Mukhtar the First lady flying officer who died in a craft crush November 24 2015 and wrote her name in the History of martyrs of Pakistan. 
She is the first and only Pakistani female fighter pilot who died in the line of Duty.
She died after the aircraft,  Pakistan Air Force(PAF) FT-7PG,  encountered a “serious in-flight emergency” during the final stages, crushed near the Kundian Mianwali Punjab.

She was born on 18 May 1992,resident of Karachi. daughter of R.Col Ahmad shaikh. She graduated from Karachi. She graduated from Pakistan Air Force in 2014 among six other women in 132 GD course.
On Tuesday 24 November 2015, Mariam Mukhtar Shaikh and Squadron leader Saqib Abbasi were on their routine operational training mission When The crash took place in Kundian, Mianwali district, about 175 kilometres (109 miles) southwest of Islamabad.(Express turbine).
Flying Officer Mariam Mukhtar embraced martyrdom in PAF FT-7 crash near Mianwali. Rest in peace comrade!

 Both occupants ejected from the cockpit and the plane crash-landed. Abbasi suffered minor injuries in the accident,however Mariam died of her severe  injuries in a military hospital.
She is buried in Malir Cantonment Graveyard.
Awards
 The Pakistan Senate Standing Committee on Defence (SSCD) recommended Marium Mukhtiar for a state award. She has been awarded with the military award Tamgha-e-Basalat by the Government of Pakistan.
Tribute
 Ek thi Mariam – a 2016 Pakistani biographical short film has been directed in tribute of First female martyred by Sarmad Sultan Khoosat and the story has been written by Umera Ahmed.
   The movie will be released on 6th or 7th of September untill enjoy the trailer. :)
